Oak Island’s New Baseball Team Reveals Name: The Oak Island Loggerheads

Oak Island, NC – After months of anticipation, the newest team in the Old North State League officially has a name: the Oak Island Loggerheads! The name, inspired by Oak Island’s strong connection to coastal wildlife and its vibrant community spirit, was chosen through a “Name the Team” contest hosted by team owners, the Allred Family. As Oak Island residents, the Allreds wanted the team’s identity to reflect the pride and character of their island town, giving locals the power to choose the perfect name.

The Loggerheads will make their debut this coming summer as part of the Coastal Division in the Old North State League. Fans can expect an exciting inaugural season filled with high-level collegiate summer baseball, fun promotions, and a deep connection to the Oak Island community.

In preparation for the season, the Oak Island Baseball team has partnered with Oak Island Parks and Recreation to upgrade the current baseball field at Bill Smith Park to collegiate-level standards. These improvements will ensure that the team’s home games provide an outstanding experience for players and fans alike.

Introducing Greyson Gursky, Director of Baseball Operations

Leading the charge on baseball operations is Greyson Gursky, a Brunswick County resident with three seasons of experience in the Old North State League. Gursky brings a wealth of knowledge and passion for the game to the Loggerheads, ensuring that the team’s inaugural season will run seamlessly both on and off the field.

“Greyson’s understanding of the league and his dedication to growing the game make him the perfect fit for this role,” said Alec Allred. “We’re thrilled to have someone of his caliber leading our baseball operations.”
